Shop Small, Y’all

Hey Y'all. Sorry it's been a while since my last blog post. Even though I told myself I would be posting each week (lies), sometimes life gets in the way. You get used to going through the motions. Your full time job sucks more life out of you than you ever imagined it would. You find yourself constantly on the move that you forget to take time for yourself. Yep, that's been me lately if I'm going to be 100% honest with y'all. I recently went through a job change, and it's been the best decision I've ever made. Okay, besides accepting Jesus into my heart, marrying my husband and finding my dog, Tater, on Craigslist. I was commuting 1.5 to 2 hours (ONE WAY) to north Atlanta. Though I did enjoy my job duties, that dang commute was just taking years off my life it seemed like. I am one of those crazed screaming drivers, so yeah, Atlanta did not want me near its city limits any longer. So I searched and searched until I found the right fit. AND LET ME TELL YOU...I already feel years younger (though I'm only 25).

Anyways, I will stop boring you with my recent life changes. I recently had a photo session with the amazing Taylor from Taylor Ann Photography, and we had an absolute blast taking a few headshots in my home! The night before our little shoot, I shocked my husband and hung approximately 50 signs on the walls of our guest bedroom. When he got home from work, I showed him, and his response was: "Wow, that looks great! But how many holes did you put in the walls...?" (DYING). Thankfully, I used Command Strips. So you're welcome, hubby.
Also, If you haven't seen or met my precious pupper, Tater (yes, the one I found on Craigslist), he has officially become Scripted With Grace's mascot. And let me tell you, he wears that title proudly. I could literally die from his cuteness, oh my GOODNESS!

Peek the precious little cactus pillow behind Tate Tate… I discovered a maker on Instagram who made these, and I instantly fell in love!
This year, I have been oddly obsessed with hoops. I came out with a few hoop designs for my festivals in May of this year and they were a hit! If I see anything round in Hobby Lobby or Michaels, my creative mind starts churning. I recently held my first "Hoop Sale" in Instagram, and y'all's response blew me away. So I promise to have another one in the near future. But come on, aren't they pretty?!
Continuing my hoop obsession discussion with y'all, I contemplated venturing out into embroidery and trying it out for myself, but I decided against it. Mostly because I don't have time to add ANY other crafting skill to my repertoire as of now. But also because I discovered this amazingly talented embroidery artist on Instagram and just had to order one of her beautiful creations. I also love supporting other artists when I can, because I know how much it means to a business owner when you shop small!
Along with sharing all these beautiful photos captured by my sweet friend, Taylor, I wanted y'all to know just how much it makes my heart happy when you support my business. I enjoy every minute of creating pieces for your homes, your weddings or for you to gift to someone you love. So next time you want to purchase a sign from Hobby Lobby or Michael's (I mean I do it sometimes because I don't feel like making myself a sign), reach out to someone local instead! It doesn't even have to be me (though I'd love your business haha). In all seriousness, when you purchase a hand painted sign, an embroidered hoop, a hand sewn pillow, or a handcrafted table from a small business, you are helping that family out more than you know. You are helping that small business owner pay off their vehicles and student loans (hello, debt). You are helping them put food on the table for their children. You are helping them move up in the world and make a name for themselves.

So to all of you lovely people who have ever purchased an item from me - THANK YOU, I love you + you have blessed me more than you'll ever know!

XOXO - Abbey

Hey Y'all!

Well hello there.

My name is Abbey Strickland, and I am the owner of Scripted With Grace! I have had a few people ask me if I had ever thought about starting a blog, so here I am. Sitting in front of my lap top. Thinking of ideas to entertain my (few) readers. To be honest, I have had an attempt at a blog in the past, but it epically failed, SO, here's my next shot at winning the hearts of you blog-reading folks. Just a little bit about me: I am a newly wed! My husband, Bryson, and I were married on a perfect fall day October 21, 2017. We now own our own home (that we pretty much completely renovated) in McDonough, Georgia just south of Atlanta, where we both grew up. Fun fact: My husband and I attended the same high school, but we didn't really know each other. He was closer to my brothers and mother before he even uttered a single word to me! Bryson and I have the most perfect Pomapoo pup in the WHOLE wide world, and his name is Tater (Tate or Tate-Tate for short). If you know me, you know I have quite a few hobbies that keep me constantly going. First off, I have a full time office job in North Atlanta that keeps me away from home for about 12 hours on week days (I know, the struggle is so real). I also have my business I run on the side - Scripted With Grace (a.k.a. the blog you're reading right now is directly correlated to my business - woot woot). I truly have a love for designing home decor pieces that are simple yet different in their own way. I free-hand paint all of my work without using stencils or vinyl, so each letter and word is similar, yet unique to each piece I create! To go along with my business, I also have a love for home decor. When I have a vision in mind, I will shop my askabootle off at Home GoodsTJ MaxxHobby Lobby, etc. over a few months until I have collected all the necessary pieces that will make my space homey and welcoming. And honey, you better believe I don't buy anything full price. I am a BARGAIN SHOPPER (plus, my husband would not be too happy with me if I ought everyhing at full price). Aside from my full time job, running my business, spending time with my family and friends, and decorating our home, I do have a passion for singing as well. I grew up singing at my church and in school, and now I help lead worship at the same church I grew up in! So as you can tell, I have my hands full, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Please feel free to follow along as I share with you Home Decor tips, photos from my own home and life, and new creations I've been working on among other things.
